Engine and Transmission

The engine will be a Mopar block 318 cubic inch, 5.2 litre with some modifications. The gearbox is the standard 904 torque flight box.

First job was to place the engine and gearbox in the car and see how things shaped up. This resulted in some of the front panel being removed together with most of the firewall. It was decided that the whole front end would come off and a new one fabricated making things a lot easier to access and maintain.

Pertronix Ignitor electronic ignition was fitted together with their 40,000 volt Flame Thrower coil. A remote oil feed was required due to space. Pipe, adaptor and fittings were purchased from Speedflow and installed. Chrome Fuel blank off plate and dipstick fitted. Spacers required to mount the new alternator. This left alignment of all the pulleys to get sorted. A few photos and sketches were taken with notes and presented to a local engine engineering firm to see what they could do. The water pump pulley has been shortened and a billet spacer made for the crankshaft pulley.
